ARTIST STATEMENT

The myth of the Vikings has had an interesting place in evolution and my imagination..Their
stories, and especially their myths inspired me as a creative from a very young age. Their
growing prevalence in pop culture, such as the animated Vinland Saga and Vikings: The Drama
Series, motivated me to make a novel of my own, My illustrated novel, The Son of the Wolf is a
creation myth of my own imaginings which borrows from the Norse mythology.

The Son of the Wolf is a fantastical telling of the end of an old single-vision universe and the
creation of a new and multi-layered universe. The novel and accompanying illustrations are
intended to open up a reader’s mind and invite them into a world bigger than the one they
inhabit. Using text and images to tell this story has had its risks, and is still in process. As a
graphic designer, I strive to make worlds come into view. Son of the Wolf is one such world.
