Commencement Day Information
Instructions for Graduates
Information will be included in the ticket packet of all participating graduates including instructions for graduates and their guests. Alternate viewing site information and internet streaming reminders will be included as will other reminders and important information about Commencement activities.
Guests
All guests must have a ticket to enter the ceremony site. No balloons or strollers will be admitted to the ceremony site. Please plan accordingly.
Guests with Special Needs
Graduates who have guests with have special needs should contact Elizabeth Skinner at 973.618.3645 by May 10, 2024. All guests entering the Newman Center must have a ticket, including care givers, for fire code reasons.
DAY OF PARKING
General Parking will be available throughout the campus with the exception of the side of the Newman Center. That area is reserved for handicap access drop off only-guest tickets will be collected. No one will be permitted to park alongside the Newman Center (unless designated by Campus Safety and Security). Vehicles must be parked elsewhere on campus. There are other designated “Blue” wheelchair spots on campus and vehicles must display proper permits.
All parking rules and regulations will be enforced. Please do not park in any fire lane or other prohibited space. Safety and Security officials will be on site to direct traffic. Please follow their guidance.
Please use caution when entering and exiting campus, as well as driving on the campus grounds. There are two events on May 18 and two ceremonies on May 19, and with such joyous occasions, there are many guests unfamiliar with the campus taking advantage of photo ops, etc. Be safe!
PHOTOGRAPHY
Guests are welcome to take photographs from their seats but may not stand in the aisles or block the view of other guests. Only official photographers will be permitted near the platform area. After the ceremony is completed, there will be ample opportunity for individual and family photos.
A commercial photographer from Island Photography will take an individual portrait of each graduate in front of a set backdrop prior to the procession, as well as a photograph of the graduate receiving the diploma cover. The proofs of these pictures will be sent to the graduate. There is no obligation to purchase these pictures.
