ARTIST STATEMENT

Using my knowledge of different software programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, has allowed me to interpret a series of travel posters that are based on real life moments. I have developed the idea to make an homage to vintage travel posters since I am constantly taking snapshots of my intimate surroundings. The images are based on scenarios that have been the most memorable moments in my life. I decided to recreate my photographs by using Adobe Illustrator to allow myself to compose these techniques in the style that still allows me to express my drawing skills and combine it to my love of design.

My pieces will represent my comprehension of structure within the placement of the images chosen and typography. When observing the details in my posters, the use of gradients is going to be an ongoing recurrence within my work that plays a role within each composition. The selected prominent colors within each individual piece will be seen throughout the poster making such as in the typography and any design added to the composition. Each piece is composed with a description of that particular moment in time from my memory.
The photographs that are used were taken within the span of a quick moment with no thought or adjustments. I chose these images to signify the concept of living in the moments amongst everything that life has to bring. These images include significant scenes that have evoked a certain feeling with a location or an intimate moment with my loved ones.
