Our clinical interns practice clinical mental health counseling and can offer expertise in art therapy. They are supported by many years of expertise by supervisors who are licensed and credentialed in the state of New Jersey. Our clinical interns assist an individual or group through the counseling relationship to develop an understanding of intrapersonal and interpersonal problems, to define goals, to make decisions, to plan a course of action reflecting the client’s needs, interests, and abilities.
Each client is unique: individuals vary in marks, gestures, and engagement with materials. Our clinical interns use methods and techniques for understanding human behavior in relation to coping with, adapting to, or changing life situations including the use of art materials in a therapeutic and intentional way. They utilize talking and image making to discover symbolic meaning. The process involves reasoning, observing, exploring viewpoints, finding complexity, describing, and connecting. Clients do not need to have any artistic talent or experience with art materials. Our services facilitate verbal and non-verbal communication.
A sliding scale is offered to keep services affordable. A sliding scale adjusts fees based on income and can greatly reduce the cost of services. The fee schedule is assessed during the initial screening.
Please note: The Mary Jo Rolli Codey Center cannot be used as a treatment referral source or aftercare following an inpatient or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) psychiatric stay.
