Caldwell University Enjoys Community Spirit at Annual Kiwanis/Rotary Street Fair

The 22nd annual Kiwanis/Rotary Caldwell Street fair on Oct. 6 was a great day for the Caldwell University community as well as for all the admirers who stopped by the college’s tent.

More than 160 passersby took advantage of the free blood pressure screenings offered by Caldwell University Nursing Department professors and students.

Coop, the college’s mascot, greeted young and old, posed for pictures and had a great time himself. He wasn’t going to let a little rain or wet fur dampen his spirits.

Music students Matthew Wilson, on keyboard, and Patrick Lehosky on drums, entertained with live jazz and pop tunes at the college booth.  

President Nancy Blattner greeted members of the community while working in the Rotary/Kiwanis food booth.

Twenty-six student-athletes representing all 12 of Caldwell’s intercollegiate sports partnered with the admissions department to staff the tent.  

The Cougars handed out free VIP tickets to the Caldwell concert series, tickets to the men’s and women’s basketball games for the 2013-14 season, calendars and 1500 mini basketball stress balls. Mary Dechek won the mini iPad that the college raffled off.

The student-athlete volunteers were organized by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, whose mission is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image.
