Caldwell University computer science student awarded scholarship from HITEC Foundation
Caldwell University is pleased to announce that Jannice Salazar, a dedicated and accomplished computer science student, has been awarded a scholarship from the Hispanic Information Technology Executive Council (HITEC) Foundation.
The HITEC Foundation is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of Hispanic technology leaders. Its mission is to provide financial support, mentorship and resources to promising Hispanic and Latinx students pursuing careers in technology and related fields.
Salazar is currently a senior majoring in computer science at Caldwell and exemplifies the qualities and aspirations that HITEC Foundation seeks to nurture. In her scholarship application essay, she expressed the importance of her Hispanic heritage and how it shaped her desire to pursue a career in the STEM fields. “Growing up in Costa Rica, I was surrounded by lush rainforests, towering mountains and diverse wildlife,” said Salazar. “From a young age, I developed a love for nature and a sense of responsibility to protect it. This love of nature sparked my interest in science, as I sought to understand the natural world and find ways to contribute to its preservation.”
Her scholarship from the HITEC Foundation will provide Salazar with financial support, access to HITEC’s extensive network of technology leaders, and mentorship opportunities to help her thrive in her academic and professional pursuits.
