It was a standing room-only affair for Caldwell University’s Accepted Students Day on Saturday
The entire Caldwell University community was on hand to welcome incoming students and their families to a record-setting Accepted Students Day on Saturday, April 6! During the event, members of the Cougar Class of 2028 came to campus to get an up-close look at life as a Cougar.
This year’s accepted class broke more than just an attendance record, however, also claiming the title of the most academically elite class in Caldwell history. Students from all over New Jersey were in attendance, and others traveled from as far away as Rhode Island, Virginia, Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania.
The Welcome Session kicked off with the National Anthem being sung acapella by current Psychology student and Acrobatics and Tumbling Team member, Mariana Aiello, ’27, followed by the Invocation from Sister Kathleen Tuite, Assistant to the President for the Mission.
When addressing the crowd during the day’s welcome session, successful alumna Samantha Guerra ’22 posed a question asking what the secret is to success. She then confidently answered her own question with, “This campus.”
University President Jeffrey Senese, Ph.D, shared his thoughts on the importance of education and how, especially now, education is essential in an increasingly complicated world.
“College is an opportunity,” he reminded the crowd. “[And] your goals are personal to us.”
Wrapping up the welcome session, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Communications, Jorge Rodriguez, shared what makes Caldwell the easy choice for the students.
“At Caldwell, you will not get lost. We see you.”
Rodriguez also went on to acknowledge the ongoing FAFSA frustrations felt by universities and prospective students, but he reassured the crowd that Caldwell is here for them and will be flexible with the May 1 National Decision Day deposit deadline.
Following the welcome, students were escorted to their respective academic breakout sessions, while senior Caldwell leadership engaged parents in an open dialog regarding what to expect as parents of a college student.
But, make no mistake, the event was more than just informative! Following the breakout sessions, guests were treated to additional learning sessions, as well as the Student Organizations and Campus Life fair, BBQ, food trucks, and games on the Newman Center Plaza.
Future Cougars and their families brought wonderful energy to the day, and they left happy and filled with the essence of what makes Caldwell University so special.
