CALDWELL
STUDIES
ABROAD
Art History Professor Jennifer Noonan, Ph.D., and History Professor Benjamin Lammers, Ph.D., hosted a Paris study-abroad program during spring break. They explored numerous sites including the Louvre, Versailles, the Musée d’Orsay, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre and Sainte-Chapelle. Reese Sherwood, a nursing major, said the trip was a great opportunity “to explore Paris and the rich art and architecture of the city! Experiencing Paris as a college student is such a privilege and this trip allowed us to see so much of the city over spring break.”
Rosa Sanchez, Ph.D., OPA, Caldwell’s study-abroad advisor and associate professor of Spanish language, literature and culture, said study abroad is a life-changing experience. “It gives students perspective and exposure to other cultures and ways of thinking— all while they continue to pursue their academic interests.”
This fall Caldwell students Jacquelyn Gualpa and Brady Kells are studying at Wroxton College in England at a campus run by Fairleigh Dickinson University as part of a partnership Caldwell has with FDU.
Annette Vaccaro, Ed.D., associate professor and program coordinator in the graduate clinical mental health counseling with art therapy specialization program; Dan Summer, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Psychology and Counseling, and Maria Lupo, Ph.D., adjunct lecturer, are heading to Ireland with students on spring break for an art therapy study-abroad course. They will lead students in exploring Irish culture with an emphasis on the psychological impact of traumatic stress and resilience factors such as art and myth in mental health during historical events such as the Great Irish Famine and Bloody Sunday. A study in Spain program is being planned for the summer of 2025. 🟥
