Veritas Award Guidelines 2024
Guidelines
The following guidelines are to be followed for anyone wishing to nominate a graduate of Caldwell University for the June Dwyer Castano Veritas Award:
The nominee must:
- hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from Caldwell University
- at least ten years of accomplishments in a given field
- demonstrate community service
- reflect the University’s Mission in their lives
- be a memorable figure whose persona will be of considerable interest
Those wishing to nominate an alumni should be a friend or associate who is familiar with the nominee’s career and service given to a community. A letter of nomination should be submitted to the Veritas Committee and should reach the Committee at least six months before the next awards ceremony.
SELECTION PROCESS
The Veritas Committee receives nominations or is provided CVs of those identified as potential awardees.
A sub-group of the Committee, the Selection Committee, is then charged with reviewing the potential awardees and determines a short-list for further review by the whole Committee. The short-list is presented at a spring or early summer meeting.
The Veritas Committee then chooses three honorees and one runner up of differing backgrounds by September. The designation of the award (Excellence in a particular area) is then created for each honoree.
Their names and designations are submitted to the President of Caldwell University for final review.
The selected honorees are notified as soon as possible after being chosen and must be certain to attend the event.
For those not chosen, a communication is sent to them for that year explaining that their nominations will be held for review again the following year. Letters of nomination and CVs are held for three years for continued consideration.
