STEP 2 |
Let us know you are committing to Caldwell University by Submitting your Enrollment Deposit
To reserve your spot at Caldwell University, please submit your enrollment deposit: $250 for commuters (off-campus housing) or $450 for residents (on-campus housing). The amount of your deposit will be credited towards your account. Deposits are only refundable in case of a visa denial.
The enrollment deposit deadline is June 1st (Fall semester) or December 1st (Spring semester).
STEP 3 |
Activate your NetID and Access your Caldwell Email Account
Your NetID is your Student Portal and Email account login ID. You should receive an email with your NetID and Caldwell email account access instructions within 3 business days of submitting your enrollment deposit.
You will start receiving important communications to your Caldwell University email account shortly after so please check your Caldwell email account on a regular basis.
STEP 4 |
Submit your I-20 Application and Supporting Financial Documents
To be eligible to apply for a student (F1) visa, you are required to apply for a Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for International F-1 Student Status)
You should receive your Form I-20 within 2 weeks of submitting a complete I-20 application with ALL necessary supporting financial documents.
*You can submit your I-20 application with all the necessary supporting financial documents for review prior to making your enrollment deposit; however, we will not be able to issue your official Form I-20 until your enrollment deposit has been received.
STEP 5 |
Pay the SEVIS Fee (I-901 Fee)
Pay the SEVIS Fee and complete the form I-901 (make sure to enter your personal information exactly as it appears on your Form I-20).
Caldwell University’s school code is: NEW214F01054000.
Your SEVIS ID number is located on the top left of your Form I-20.
You should print your payment receipt and keep it for your records.
STEP 6 |
Apply for your Student (F-1) Visa
Complete the online application form DS-160.
Visit http://www.usembassy.gov to locate the embassy or consulate near you to schedule your visa appointment. Wait times for an appointment can be lengthy so you should apply as soon as possible after receiving your Form I-20.
As you prepare for your visa appointment, we recommend that you contact an EducationUSA Advising Center in your home country. If possible, we recommend that you attend a pre-departure information session organized by the center. It is also recommended that you review NAFSA’s 10 Points to Remember When Applying for a Student Visa.
You should prepare the following documents for your visa interview:
- Passport. It must be valid for up to 6 months past the intended end date on your Form I-20.
- Caldwell University’s Form I-20
- Receipt of SEVIS Fee payment
- Supporting financial documents (original documents)
- 2X2 visa photo. For specific requirements go to: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html
- Additional documents as required by the specific embassy or consulate
*Canadian citizens are not required to obtain a visa to enter the United States; however, they must obtain a Form I-20 and pay the SEVIS fee before entering the United States.
Let us know the date of your visa interview as soon as it has been scheduled!
STEP 7 |
Let us know the outcome of your visa interview!
Once you notify us of your visa approval, we will send you important Pre-Departure information.
STEP 8 |
Submit your Housing Forms (Resident Students Only)
If you plan on living on-campus and made a $450 enrollment deposit, you will receive a welcome email from the Office of Residence Life with information on how to submit your Housing Forms. For any specific questions regarding housing, please contact the Office of Residence Life (residencelife@caldwell.edu).
STEP 9 |
Complete your Placement Tests
All new students are required to complete the required placement tests (Math & English). Placement Test information will be sent to you via email after making an enrollment deposit but it can also be found here. You will not be able to be registered for classes for your first semester until your placement tests are completed so you should take them as soon as possible.
STEP 10 |
Submit your Required Health Forms
Resident and Commuter students should return the required Health Forms (Traditional Undergraduate Full Time Student) to the Office of Health Services prior to their arrival to campus. Please visit the Covid-19 Vaccine Policy FAQ page for the most up to date vaccine information
STEP 11 |
Submit your Official Final Transcript Evaluation
All students that completed their secondary school studies outside of the United States must have their secondary school transcripts evaluated by a NACES member agency. A list of accepted NACES members can be found here.
The evaluation must state that you have achieved the equivalent of completion of a U.S. High School diploma.
*College/University level transcript evaluations must be a “course by course evaluation”.
* Students from Nepal have the option of having their transcripts attested by USEF Nepal (official hard copies of the attested documents are required) instead of submitting a NACES evaluation.
STEP 12 |
Come to Caldwell University and Attend the Mandatory International Student Orientation
Keep in mind that you are allowed to enter the United States no earlier than 30 days prior to the start date listed on your Form I-20.
Details about the mandatory international student orientation will be shared with you via email.
