Department of English
Welcome to the Department of English
Caldwell University English majors are challenged to become close readers, critical thinkers, practiced researchers, and effective writers and editors—skills that prepare them for a wide range of careers. English majors learn to engage confidently with a variety of literary and non-literary texts—short fiction, novels, poetry, creative non-fiction, literary criticism and theory, blogs and other social media—and understand how these texts are related to larger cultural and social trends as well as to evolving critical conversations. English majors may also develop their creative talents through the Drama Minor or the Creative Writing and Performance Concentration, or they may pair their work in English with a second major. Two of our most popular double majors are Business Administration-English and Education (K-6 or K-12)-English.
