75th Anniversary Alumni Exhibition
A Celebration of Alumni Art: 1994-2014
Sept. 12 – Oct. 10, 2014
The Department of Art at Caldwell University proudly presents the work of graduates from the last 20 years, who received a BA or BFA in Art, during its “Celebration of Alumni Art, 1994-2014” exhibition in the Visceglia Gallery as part of a 75th Anniversary commemoration. The goal of this event is to celebrate the remarkable creativity, innovation and dedication of our alumni over the last two decades. This diverse artistic work represents the efforts of thirty alumni who make up a vibrant community of makers, all of whom continue to produce studio and design work in an exciting range of media. The timing of this show also coincides with the institution’s newly granted status as a university.
The exhibition opens Sept. 12th and the reception takes place Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at 5:00 PM, in the Visceglia Gallery (Student Center Building) as part of the annual Homecoming and Family Weekend. The Exhibition will be showcased through October 10, 2014.
The work exhibited by the thirty alumni included in this show contains a range of content and style including abstraction, representational, symbolic, psychoanalytic, non-objective as well as graphic design in media ranging from oils, acrylic, large and small scale sculpture, mixed media, photography and video. Prof. Baker, who has been teaching studio art at Caldwell for many years said, “Every one of these artists has passed through my classroom, and I think I can speak for all the Art Department faculty when I say that it has been greatly rewarding after having encouraged their creative visions to see them developing their own styles and approaches as they continue their investigations.”
Caldwell launched the Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in 1974 (the first in the state of New Jersey). More than 75 students are currently pursuing a major in art at Caldwell University.
