Caldwell University to Honor Alumni for Investing Their Talents Locally

Caldwell, N.J., February 7, 2014

Caldwell University will honor two outstanding alumni for investing their talents locally. Sister Patricia Stringer and Gail Sutton Kuchavik will be honored with Veritas Awards, the highest honor the college bestows on its alumni for professional excellence, at a reception on March 28 at the Essex Fells Country Club.

Sister Patricia Stringer, O.P. ’69 is a councilor on the Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Caldwell. She will receive her award for Excellence in Ministry Leadership. Sister Pat spent 10 years developing a small school in the Dominican Republic from four grades to eight and a high school. She also served at Caldwell University as assistant dean for student affairs and taught mathematics.

Gail Sutton Kuchavik ’97 of Morris Plains, N.J. was the first graduate of Caldwell’s gerontology program in 1992. She will receive her award for Excellence in Geriatric Advocacy. Gail has worked with the elderly population in a number of locations and is director of marketing for Arden Courts Alzheimer’s/Dementia Assisted Living. She initiated programs like the Living Treasures of Morris County Award, recognizing the elderly, and coordinated the first International Day of the Elderly with United Nations Ambassador Julia Alvarez, an event held worldwide every Oct. 1.
