Alumnus Is Awarded National Health Service Corps Scholarship for Medical School

Alumnus Sean Parente ‘21 was accepted into the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Virginia campus. Parente graduated from Caldwell with the highest GPA in his major, a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and received a National Health Service Corps Scholarship to cover his medical school tuition. “I hope to practice family medicine in rural or underserved populations upon graduation from VCOM and completion of residency. And by the grace of God, and significant help from Dr. Velhagen (chair of the School of Natural Sciences), I was awarded the NHSC scholarship, which is very exciting.” Parente’s parents and two aunts are alumni of Caldwell.
