Nursing Receives Grant to Upgrade Simulation Lab from The Healthcare Foundation of NJ

Caldwell University was awarded a grant from The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey (HFNJ) to upgrade nursing skills equipment, staff capacity and professional training opportunities in the School of Nursing.  The $193,923 award will help refurbish the simulation and nursing skills labs where students in the popular Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program gain hands-on practical experience through simulation. 

“We are thrilled to learn of the generous grant from The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, said Donna Naturale, associate dean of the School of Nursing and Public Health. “This will aid us in upgrading our simulation lab with state-of- the-art simulators and enhanced equipment and supplies. We will be able to add a part time lab instructor to assist our full time clinical affiliate/simulation lab coordinator and enhance student engagement in dedicated education units at local medical centers.“

Michael Schmidt, executive director and CEO of HFNJ, said they are pleased to support the continued growth of Caldwell University’s School of Nursing, “particularly as the program has grown to welcome a more diverse student body with many students being the first in their families to attend college.

The grant was made possible through the work of Caldwell University’s Director of Corporate, Foundations and Government Relations Patricia Levins.
