Women’s Soccer Amber Raines ‘20 Named NJAIAW Woman of the Year

CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women’s soccer alum Amber Raines ’20 (Millville, N.J.) was honored by the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women as Caldwell’s Woman of the Year.
 
The NJAIAW celebrates the women and girls of New Jersey and their contributions to sport. The group awards Woman of the Year accolades to outstanding female student-athletes from high schools, colleges and universities throughout New Jersey for their significant contributions to their institution and community through athletic accomplishments, academic success and community involvement. Each year, the NJAIAW hosts the Woman of the Year celebration in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
 
“Amber was an outstanding student-athlete and leader for our team during her four years,” said head coach Nate Guagliardi. “She is well-deserving of receiving this prestigious award from the NJAIAW and continues to represent Caldwell University in a positive manner. It is a tremendous honor have a student-athlete honored by the NJAIAW and be a part of their mission to promote women’s athletics in the state of New Jersey.”
 
Raines was a two-sport star in soccer and lacrosse. She was a three-year starter on the soccer team and was part of two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships. In her senior season, Raines turned in a stellar year on the pitch, earning CACC Defensive Player of the Year recognition and was honored on the CACC First Team. She was the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month in October 2019 and was a three-time CACC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week selection. Raines earned Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association First Team All-Region in 2019. In the classroom. Raines earned a 3.5 GPA as a psychology major with a human resource management minor.
